2010 Spring Raffle

We would like to express very special appreciation to Hayley Vaughan and her parents, Lee and Lisa Vaughan, for donating the resort package for our raffle this year. This one item brought in 123 raffle ticket sales and a major part of the raffle total. This prize was from Karie Henry of Silverleaf Resorts. Take time to check out their resorts at www.SilverleafResorts.com.

Other popular prizes were "Ice Cream" with Mrs. Hardimon won by Nicole and Taylor Karrmann, and a "Movie Date" with Mrs. Shields won by Emily Dittmer.

The raffle brought in a grand total of $3190. This money was partially used to pay for Guest Artists for the Spring Performances and the balance is being saved towards replacing the marley floor in Studio C as soon as possible.

We thank everyone who helped with this fund-raiser!

Congratulations

Special congratulations to Melanie Dittmer and Emily Dittmer for making the 2010 National Youth Gathering Dance Troupe. They will perform on July 20th in the Superdome before an audience of 25,000. Their audition was coached and assisted by Leia Hardimon, Norma Shields and James Lavender of Prince of Peace.

Summer Workshops

The first two weeks of Summer Workshops have been a wonderful success. We have enjoyed our own dancer, Kathleen Donachie, returning from NY to teach a Contemporary Series, and Michelle Blum-Schuetz, former ballerina with Krassovska's Ballet Jeunesse teaching Variations.

The Children's, "Storybook Princesses Camp" was assisted by Cathy Spohnheimer and Chelsea Rayna. The "fifteen princesses" performed last Thursday in the DID Rehearsal Hall before an audience of many friends and family members.

New for Professional Preparatory I - IV

Professional Preparatory I-IV will be adding to their curriculum a wonderful new set of Classical Dances for Children.

There will be 12 Beethoven Contra dances for the study of Petit Allegro and 12 Beethoven German Dances for the study of beginning Corps de Ballet and Demi-Solo work.

The "Children's Classical Ballet Collection" is choreographed by Norma Shields and will cover all the curriculum steps of those levels.

The children will pass these dances by adjudication and will receive a series of Award Ribbons as they progress through the repertoire.
