Lyrical - Jazz Department
Instructor - Choreographer
Education:
Extensive training in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, and Hip-Hop. Began jazz and tap training under the direction of Joe Michaels and Mia Michaels and classical ballet under the direction of Martha Mahr in Miami. Upon moving to Dallas, began classical ballet and tap studies under the direction of Norma Shields and jazz, hip-hop and lyrical with Suzanne Ramirez. Studied for degree in dance and psychology at SMU. Has had the opportunity to work extensively with Natalie Krassovska, Soili Arvola, Leo Ahonen, Buster Cooper, and Terry Wolter. Other teachers include Joe Tremaine, Max Stone, Savion Glover, Jay Fagen, Karen Krete, and the late Robert Seevers.
Teaching/Choreography:
Eleven years experience in studio settings and private coaching and choreography for various dance and drill team competitions. Currently teaching ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, pointe technique, and fitness in the Dallas area. Has had the opportunity to choreograph for various musical theater projects in the Dallas area including the Wizard of Oz and Fosse. Spent five years working with special needs children in the Dallas Independent School District. Created specialized choreography for students in productions within Dallas Independent Schools and charitable functions. Future goals include becoming a counselor to at risk youths and their families.
Performance:
Classical repertoire include corps and soloist roles in Coppelia, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Les Sylphides, Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, Swan Lake, Cinderella and Water Music Suites. Has performed leading musical theater roles in West Side Story, Pirates of Penzance, Grease, Wizard of Oz, and excerpts from Fosse.
Concert performance include Dallas Dance Festival, La Fuente, and National Tap Dance Day.
Currently performing as a Polynesian and Tahitian dancer with the Hawaiiana Dancers of Tropikal Productions - this includes industrials for Greyhound, opening of Miss Texas Pageant, and many other private corporate and industrial functions.
